Recap: Elliot Christian Eagles vs. Venture Academy Mustangs
The Elliot Christian Eagles won against the Venture Academy Mustangs on Saturday with 51 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Elliot Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Venture Academy and snuck past 51-49. The victory was familiar territory for Elliot Christian who now have three in a row.
Bella Perry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Elliot Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Nena Heiser, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Venture Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jz Lawrence. Despite the final result, she dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. That's the first time this season that Lawrence pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelyiana Neal, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Venture Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elliot Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Elliot Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Venture Academy, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Elliot Christian will take on Stone Ridge Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Venture Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Summerville at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
