Football Recap: DeKalb Takes a Loss

DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], falling 64-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 70-24 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Blake Norton, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. DeKalb will take on Stewartsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], they are taking a road trip to take on South Nodaway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
