Softball Recap: Northridge Grizzlies vs. Timnath Cubs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against University, Northridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Timnath Cubs by a score of 10-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Cubs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Brooke Riofrio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Naomi Propes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Northridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timnath only posted a batting average of .214.

The win got Northridge back to even at 2-2. As for Timnath, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5-1.

Looking ahead, Northridge will challenge Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Timnath, they will face off against Thompson Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
