Softball Game Preview: Sonoraville Phoenix vs. Union County Panthers + Official Tickets

The Sonoraville Phoenix will square off against the Union County Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sonoraville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Sonoraville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Josey get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering the Phoenix have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansley Hall looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marley Hall was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Patterson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Union County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Murray County 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sonoraville's win bumped their record up to 27-5. As for Union County, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.
