Softball Recap: Moffat County Victorious

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moffat County). They blew past the Lincoln Lancers 24-1 on Friday.

Vanessa Herrara made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Herrara was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Camila Nunez-Verdugo was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylie Cook, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Moffat County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .939. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Moffat County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lincoln: the pair will be back at it again later today.
