Basketball Recap: Atwater Takes a Loss

Atwater lost against Merced back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Atwater Falcons fell 58-51 to the Merced Bears.

Merced's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Thomas led the charge by going 7-for-13 en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Matsuo, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Atwater's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Merced, they pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atwater will head out to face off against Buhach Colony at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Atwater is facing Buhach Colony at the right time seeing as Buhach Colony is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Merced, they will head out on the road to take on Golden Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Golden Valley will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Merced surely won't give up without a fight.
