Basketball Recap: Rio Linda Snags 19th Win in Last 20 Games

It's playoff time, and Rio Linda had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 41-34 win over the Placer Hillmen on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Linda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Grant, who posted six points in addition to 11 boards and seven assists. That's the most assists Grant has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was LaRay Mitchell, who went 7-for-15 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Rio Linda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Rio Linda is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.7 points. Placer's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

Coming up, Rio Linda will face off against Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Colfax's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games. Placer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
