Softball Recap: Pace Academy Takes a Loss

If Pace Academy was riding high fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Forest Park on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Paulding Raiders on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 9-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Megan Wrigley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bodhi Venturi, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Pace Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for East Paulding, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Pace Academy and East Paulding could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Knights will challenge Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (241 vs. 98). Meanwhile, East Paulding (ranked 90th) will meet North Cobb (ranked 35th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
