Baseball Recap: Mount View Comes Up Short

Mount View dropped down to 5-5 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bucksport Golden Bucks by a score of 2-0. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Mount View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Bradeen, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. The Mustangs are 2-1 when Bradeen posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise.

As for Bucksport, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Bucksport's side, Trent Goss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Goss has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

Mount View wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 loss against Maranacook on the 12th. As for Bucksport, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-4 win against Orono on the 13th.
