Softball Game Preview: Cor Jesu Academy Chargers vs. Windsor Owls

The Cor Jesu Academy Chargers will take on the Windsor Owls at 12:45 p.m. on Friday. Cor Jesu Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Cor Jesu Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Mehlville on Wednesday. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Panthers. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Ella Sweringen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Sweringen was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Grace Rasmussen and Peyton Chambers did most of the damage at the plate: Rasmussen went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Chambers went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Alice Vogel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Cor Jesu Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Festus typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Windsor proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-3.

Windsor now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Cor Jesu Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Cor Jesu Academy took their victory against Windsor in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
