Softball Recap: Murray County Comes Up Short

Murray County had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it four. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sonoraville Phoenix. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Sonoraville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

For Sonoraville's part, not much got past Ansley Hall, who gave up just two hits to keep Murray County off the board. Hall has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sonoraville let Marley Hall and Ellie Wofford run wild. Hall went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Wofford went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Cadence Mulkey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Looking ahead, Murray County will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Paulding County at 11:30 a.m. As for Sonoraville, they will head out on the road to challenge Cartersville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
