Soccer Game Preview: Pleasant Valley vs. Chico

The Pleasant Valley Vikings will face off against the Chico Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Pleasant Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Foothill a 3-0 shutout. Give the Vikings' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

They hit Foothill with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Abbey Guichard, Ali Lugo, and Madeleine Barteau.

Meanwhile, Chico earned a 4-2 win over Shasta on Tuesday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 148th in California, while Wolves are ranked 383rd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pleasant Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. As for Chico, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
