Baseball Recap: North Murray Gets the Win

North Murray hadn't done well against Coahulla Creek recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mountaineers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Colts. This was a revenge game for the Mountaineers: when they faced off against the Colts on Thursday, they had to take a 7-2 loss.

Leonardo Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Skojac, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. AJ Stafford also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

North Murray's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Coahulla Creek, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Murray will host Ridgeland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Coahulla Creek, they will be playing at home against Union County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight.
