The York Dukes will venture away from home to take on the St. Paul Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If York beats St. Paul with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Dukes never let Lexington get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Monday. Considering the Dukes have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mira Garrett was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since September 6th. Taytum Methe was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, St. Paul didn't have quite enough to beat Aquinas on Saturday and fell 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.
Alli Dugan stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kamden Sack, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
The victory (which was York's third in a row) raised their record to 15-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Paul, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.
York took their victory against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dukes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
