Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Comes Up Short

If Dunkirk was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Allegany-Limestone on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marauders fell just short of the Salamanca Warriors by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The Marauders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Aries Cheverez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Neallard, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Dunkirk's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Salamanca, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dunkirk beat the Warriors by a score of 8-1 on Saturday.
