The King's Ridge Christian Tigers will take on the North Cobb Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. King's Ridge Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
King's Ridge Christian will bounce into Monday's game after beating Mount Vernon, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Tigers came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 8-5 on Wednesday.
Kate Greiner and Katie Washer did most of the damage at the plate: Greiner went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Washer went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Washer has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmie Fratesi, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: King's Ridge Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, North Cobb Christian entered their tilt with Murray County on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Indians 13-4.
Faith Sonnenberg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Edwards, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Ellie Mitchell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
King's Ridge Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-6-1. As for North Cobb Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. King's Ridge Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like North Cobb Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
