Burney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliyah Perez led the charge by putting up 19 points and four steals. Perez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Alexis Witzel was another key player, posting ten points and five steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Weed took on Etna on Friday. Weed blew past Etna 58-22. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Weed pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. As for Burney, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.

Burney took a serious blow against Weed when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 58-21. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Burney was down 37-6.
