Basketball Recap: Community Charter Takes a Loss

Community Charter lost against Lakeview Charter back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Community Charter Titans had to suffer through a 60-17 loss at the hands of the Lakeview Charter Lions. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.

Lakeview Charter was led to victory by Evelyn Quinonez and Liliana Word. Quinonez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 steals, while Word went 8 for 20 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The contest was Word's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Heyli Edwards, who posted eight points.

Community Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-6. As for Lakeview Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Community Charter will challenge Triumph Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Community Charter's offense hasn't had much luck over their past five games, but Monday's match will give them a chance to turn things around. As for Lakeview Charter, they will square off against Valley Oaks CES at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview Charter is facing Valley Oaks CES at the right time seeing as Valley Oaks CES is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
