Softball Recap: Parkway Central Comes Up Short

Parkway Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 12-5. They lost 9-2 to the Eureka Wildcats. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Parkway Central saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

As for Eureka, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Eureka's side, Paige Deakin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 12 hits. Deakin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Eureka let Maddie Rakey and Alina Logush run wild. Rakey went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Logush went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Maddy Wilken was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Parkway Central and Eureka should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Colts (ranked 33rd) will meet Parkway North (ranked 204th) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Eureka will take on Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (5 vs. 121).
