Softball Recap: Mercy Has No Trouble Against Lincoln Southeast

Mercy lost to Lincoln Southeast back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Monarchs blew past the Knights 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Monarchs.

Mercy got a great performance from Alexis Nuefind as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Nuefind has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rae Carmichael was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August of 2024. Vanessa Burton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

Mercy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southeast only posted an OBP of .190.

Mercy's record now sits at 5-9. As for Lincoln Southeast, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercy will square off against Elkhorn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will face off against Papillion-LaVista South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
