Basketball Recap: Layla Lesure's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plainfield South over Normal Community

The Plainfield South Cougars came up short against the Normal Community Ironmen on Saturday and fell 50-40. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Plainfield South's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layla Lesure, who posted eight points and seven boards. Victoria Wieclaw also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Plainfield South's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Normal Community, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-5.

Coming up, Plainfield South will challenge DeKalb at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Normal Community, they will face off against Rock Island at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
