Basketball Recap: Cibola Piles Up the Points Against Deming

Cibola had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Deming on Thursday. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 53-20. The contest marked the Cougars' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The win (which was Cibola's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Deming, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Cibola will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. Deming will take on Las Cruces in a holiday battle at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
