Football Game Preview: Denver South Ravens vs. Northfield Nighthawks

A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Denver South Ravens will square off against the Northfield Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Denver South gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 win over Vista PEAK Prep. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Ravens were down 34-7 in the second quarter.

Daniel Lucado and George O'Reilly were among the main playmakers for Denver South as the former gained 175 total yards and four touchdowns and the latter threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. The dominant performance also gave Lucado a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (three).

Meanwhile, Northfield earned a 27-14 win over Pueblo East on Friday. The Nighthawks' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

The victory got Denver South back to even at 2-2. As for Northfield, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Denver South beat Northfield 19-8 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
