Baseball Recap: Johnston Comes Up Short

Johnston was the 3-1 winner over Rogers when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday.

Johnston got a good showing from Luca Schroer, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Schroer has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anthony Vendetti made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Bracey, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1. As for Rogers, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.

Coming up, Johnston will host Toll Gate at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. Rogers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
