Football Game Recap: Aptos Mariners vs. Santa Clara Bruins

Aptos extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 19-12 to the Santa Clara Bruins, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While the Mariners didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bruins 12-6 in the first quarter.

As for Santa Clara, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 26 points in those games.

The critical scores for Santa Clara came from Abigail (Abi) Hoang, Kalliana Flora, and Malia Perez.

Aptos will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Santa Cruz at 6:00 p.m. on October 8. As for Santa Clara, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Emerald at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
