Basketball Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions, falling 53-20. The Gators lost against the Golden Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 38-35 score last time.

Greensburg Salem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vienna Jevicky, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Heasley, who scored 14 points.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Greensburg Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Gateway will head out on the road to challenge Shaler Area at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Shaler Area will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Gateway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greensburg Salem, they will take on Greater Latrobe at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
