Basketball Game Preview: Calexico Bulldogs vs. University City Centurions

The Calexico Bulldogs will challenge the University City Centurions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. University City took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Calexico, who comes in off a win.

Calexico took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Palo Verde Valley by a score of 47-39.

Ivanna Camarillo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten steals. Those 24 points gave her a new career-high. Leslie Herrera was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, University City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to Scripps Ranch on the road by a 57-43 margin.

Calexico's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-11. As for University City, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Calexico came up short against University City in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 35-29. Can Calexico avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
