Baseball Recap: Jonesboro Drops Season-High Score on Griffin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jonesboro). They put the hurt on the Griffin Bears with a sharp 13-7 win on Friday. The Cardinals not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20, 2024.

Joshua Wimbley was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Jonesboro: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-14 otherwise. Isiah Osby III was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Wimbley wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Jonesboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory (which was Jonesboro's third in a row) raised their record to 6-15. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Griffin, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Jonesboro Cardinals face off against Mundy's Mill Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jonesboro is facing Mundy's Mill at the right time seeing as Mundy's Mill is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Griffin, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Baldwin at 5:30 p.m.
