Baseball Recap: Unity Christian Comes Up Short

Unity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 18-8 to the New Creation Christian Academy Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 on March 3rd.

Hayden Darnell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Unity Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jason Woodring, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Unity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Unity Christian and New Creation Christian Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time Unity Christian sees the field they'll take on Hearts Academy at 5:30 p.m. on April 8. As for New Creation Christian Academy, their break will end when they face CrossPointe Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on April 14.
