Softball Preview: Castle View Sabercats vs. Palisade Bulldogs
The Castle View Sabercats are taking a road trip to face off against the Palisade Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Castle View's tournament run continued when they took on Grand Junction Central on Friday. The Sabercats fell 6-2 to the Warriors. The Sabercats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Palisade entered their tilt with Heritage on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-4.
MacKenzie Gray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lexi Trottier was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Chloe Cummings was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Palisade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Palisade's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Castle View, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
