Baseball Game Preview: Havana Ducks vs. Tremont Turks

Havana hasn't had much luck against Tremont recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Ducks will be playing at home against the Turks at 4:30 p.m. Havana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Havana was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Canton on Friday. The Ducks were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Little Giants. The result was nothing new for the Ducks, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Oscar Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Havana got a massive performance out of Caleb McDaniel, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave McDaniel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Turner, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Havana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canton only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Tremont had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Minutemen.

Havana's victory bumped their record up to 17-7-1. As for Tremont, their win bumped their record up to 28-2.
