Softball Recap: Madison County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Georgia Military College on Saturday, Madison County came back down to earth. The Red Raiders fell 10-7 to the Greenbrier Wolfpack on Saturday. The Red Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

Madison County has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Greenbrier, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Madison County will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Shoals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Red Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenbrier, they are taking a road trip to square off against Evans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolfpack's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
