Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Vanguards are ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, California fell victim to La Serna and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 4-0. The loss continues a trend for the Condors in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now lost four in a row.

The win got Brea Olinda back to even at 9-9-5. As for California, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7-1.
