Soccer Game Preview: Santa Ynez vs. Nipomo

For the first time this season, Santa Ynez will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Nipomo Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Santa Ynez's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Righetti, sneaking past 1-0. Santa Ynez wouldn't have won without Kailani Ladera, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Nipomo fell victim to Cabrillo and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Conquistadores by a score of 1-0.

Nipomo has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Santa Ynez, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Santa Ynez's way against Nipomo when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Santa Ynez made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
