While Liberty County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Islands Sharks 17-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayleigh Barnard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Liberty County got a massive performance out of Adalyn Norton, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave Norton a new career-high. Brighton Harpe was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Liberty County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Islands only posted an OBP of .188.
Liberty County's record now sits at 7-5. As for Islands, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3.
