Softball Recap: Platteview Wins Going Away Against Omaha South

Platteview lost to Omaha South back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Packers with a sharp 15-2 victory. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Paisley Peklo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Peklo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Platteview got a massive performance out of Olivia Stites, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Stites a new career-high. Khloe Hartman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Platteview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Platteview's record is now 7-4. As for Omaha South, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platteview will host Nebraska City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Omaha South, they will be playing at home against Buena Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
