Softball Recap: Albany Victorious

Albany was handed an 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past the Gallatin Bulldogs 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 two weeks ago.

Makena Moffat spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jayden Hillyard was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddix Epperly, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Albany's record is now 24-5. As for Gallatin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Albany has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against La Plata on the 11th. As for Gallatin, they will welcome Gilman City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
