Dynamic duo of Grace Johnson and Jaiden Alexander lead Mesa Verde to victory

Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Casa Roble Rams

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mira Loma, the Mesa Verde Mavericks were happy to have found some success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 39-23 win over Casa Roble. This was payback for Mesa Verde, who suffered a 49-19 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Mesa Verde to victory were Grace Johnson and Jaiden Alexander. Johnson scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Alexander dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Mesa Verde's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Solis, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Natalie Mathieson and Savannah Sanders certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Mathieson scored nine points, while Sanders scored eight points.

Mesa Verde is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Casa Roble, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will take on Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pioneer will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak. As for Casa Roble, they will head out on the road to face off against Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
