Softball Recap: Central Wins Going Away Against Dublin

Central won the last time they faced Dublin and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chargers put the hurt on the Fighting Irish with a sharp 12-6 victory. Considering the Chargers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

JaMyree Simmons was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits. Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Central got a big performance out of Alana Neal, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Carys Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Dublin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coming up, Central is taking a road trip to face off against Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Dublin, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-0 victory against Central on the 4th.
