Softball Recap: Adairsville Takes a Loss

Adairsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Calhoun on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-2. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Ashlyn Carlton spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ansley Powell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hill, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Adairsville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Calhoun, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Adairsville is set to take on their familiar foe LaFayette at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Calhoun will square off against rival Ridgeland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
