The Millville Quakers lost against the Canton Warriors back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Millville fell to Canton 39-35.
Larissa Evans and Abby Kakaley certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Evans scored 15 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds, while Kakaley scored seven points along with six steals. Evans scored a full 42.9% of Millville's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ayla Boyunegmez was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cailyn Van Noy, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Daveian Crowley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Millville bumped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Canton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millville will take on Sullivan County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Canton, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cowanesque Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Cowanesque Valley is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
