Basketball Recap: Mt. Whitney Piles Up the Points Against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Whitney). They blew past the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears, posting a 60-29 win. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears on Tuesday, too.

Mt. Whitney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaylie Mares led the charge by putting up 13 points and seven rebounds. Mares is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kavayah Faulkner, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 13 points.

Mt. Whitney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Mt. Whitney now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Mt. Whitney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-28 victory against Parlier on the 8th. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 27-22 win against Woodlake on the 5th.
