Basketball Recap: Aquinas Academy Crusaders vs. Elizabeth Forward Warriors
Aquinas Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elizabeth Forward Warriors, sneaking past 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crusaders have posted since January 10th.
Aquinas Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tess Duer led the charge by going 8-for-16 on her way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Guillen, who shot 58% from the field en route to 19 points and five rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison Wach, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Sostaric, who scored 13 points.
Coming up, Aquinas Academy will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on California at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elizabeth Forward, they will be taking part in a tournament against Avonworth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
