Basketball Recap: Flowing Wells Takes a Loss

Flowing Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Buena Colts and fell 73-23. The contest marked the Caballeros' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Flowing Wells still got an impressive performance from Isaias Encinas, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Angel Murrieta, who earned three points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Thomas Welker went supernova for Buena, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Welker has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Pacheco, who put up eight points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.

Flowing Wells' defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Buena, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Flowing Wells didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-49 loss against Pueblo on the 23rd. As for Buena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-42 victory against Nogales on the 23rd.
