Baseball Recap: Mt. Carmel Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mt. Carmel had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Pasqual Golden Eagles a 1-0 shutout. The Sundevils haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Jack Grassa, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep San Pasqual off the board. Grassa has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kelle Leuck was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Mt. Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 15-13-1. As for San Pasqual, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-22.

Coming up, Mt. Carmel will venture away from home to square off against Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sundevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. San Pasqual does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
