Softball Recap: Pius X Wins Going Away Against Lincoln Southeast

Pius X won the last time they faced Lincoln Southeast and things went their way on Friday too. The Thunderbolts blew past the Knights 16-3. With that win, the Thunderbolts brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Libby Preister was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kendal Heimes was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jordan Huber, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Pius X always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southeast only posted an OBP of .231.

The victory made it two in a row for Pius X and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Lincoln Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
