Basketball Game Preview: Chaffey Tigers vs. Don Lugo Conquistadores

Chaffey and Don Lugo are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Chaffey Tigers will welcome the Don Lugo Conquistadores at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Chaffey challenged Ontario on Friday. Chaffey had to suffer through a 59-23 loss at the hands of Ontario. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Don Lugo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Diamond Ranch, falling 61-27. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while the Panthers are ranked 287th).

Despite the defeat, Don Lugo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sienna Robles almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of London Salmon, who posted ten points.

Don Lugo now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Chaffey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Everything came up roses for Chaffey against Don Lugo in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-24 victory. Does Chaffey have another victory up their sleeve, or will Don Lugo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
