Baseball Game Preview: Girard Indians vs. LaBrae Vikings

Girard hasn't had much luck against LaBrae recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. Girard is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Girard is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 27, 2025 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mineral Ridge 5-4.

Camron Herrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bobby Levonyak was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

LaBrae had taken Champion down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Vikings fell just short of the Golden Flashes by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

LaBrae saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Armstrong, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Girard's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for LaBrae, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Girard couldn't quite finish off LaBrae in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
