Basketball Game Preview: Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans vs. Pacific Union College Prep Falcons

Rio Lindo Adventist has gone 9-1 against Pacific Union College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Pacific Union College Prep Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Back in December of 2024, Rio Lindo Adventist lost to Victory Christian Academy on the road by a 40-21 margin.

Despite the loss, Rio Lindo Adventist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sascha Norman posted seven points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Norman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Gibson, who had five points along with six boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Rio Lindo Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pacific Union College Prep ended up a good deal behind Summerfield Waldorf on Tuesday and lost 38-19. The Falcons have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Pacific Union College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Rio Lindo Adventist, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Rio Lindo Adventist against Pacific Union College Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Lindo Adventist since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
