After a string of three wins, El Rancho's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 60-41 bruising from the La Serna Lancers. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 42-32 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, El Rancho saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emery Riker dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Riker is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carissa Basurto, who posted nine points and four steals.

El Rancho's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-5. As for La Serna, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.

El Rancho didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-55 victory against California on the 10th. As for La Serna, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-35 win against Whittier on the 10th.
